Left Atrial Appendage Closure with the WATCHMAN® Device

The WATCHMAN® implant is a minimally invasive, one-time procedure designed to reduce the risk of strokes that originate in the left atrial appendage (LAA). Patients who are candidates for the device usually have atrial fibrillation not caused by heart valve problems, they can take short-term blood-thinning medications after the procedure and are poor candidates for long-term blood-thinning medications.
